Check out this video by the National Parks Conservation Association. It makes a strong case against the proposed construction of a 1,500 megawatt coal-fired power plant near the Chesapeake Bay in Dendron, Virginia. Water pollution into our fragile estuary, and air pollution across our region, would worsen with this ill-conceived project.
On Sept. 24, Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) withdrew its application to Virginia for an air pollution control permit to build the plant. The company said the recession has slowed the demand for electricity, and there is now too much “uncertainty” surrounding future federal air pollution control regulations.
But ODEC officials said the project will continue. In a letter to the state, ODEC said it would re-apply for an air pollution control permit in 18 to 24 months, and then move ahead with the construction power plant “at the appropriate time.”
The “appropriate time” for this plant is never.

1/6th of that electricity is burned up air conditioners. It's pretty ridiculous.

Outdated and short-sighted. Driven by the quest for $$$$s. Once again, the prospect of these profits would (like to) trump the environmental, wildlife and human health concerns.
Hydrogen fuel cells could have already been implemented as the present and future main sources of our energy supply. We have had the technology for decades. Why hasn't this alternative energy source become a finacially feasible option?
Answer: The oil industry...and now I suspect that the coal industry is lobbying hard for their share of the profit pie. When was the last time either of these two industries did "the right thing"?

The girl friend shed tears, she began to realize that in his position in the heart may not have his business is just important, or even a break up of the signal or an excuse.

The call to reduce the use of coals is valid for western countries but unfortunately, coal reports show developing economies are more likely to increase their use of coal in coming years because of its affordability and to meet increasing demands for electricity and steel for the coal industry. www.coalportal.com
