"My photo was taken on Highland Beach, Maryland. There is a breaker that runs beside the Highland Beach pier and while walking on the pier I saw this tree growing up from the breaker. It’s a little tree, but pretty and strong, and I loved the reflection in the water.
I grew up on this side of the Chesapeake Bay. I started coming here almost every weekend in the summers at the age of seven, and then my parents bought a home and we moved here in 1976. I grew up fishing and crabbing on this Bay. The beauty of the shore and the smell of the water let me know I’m home. When I stroll along the shore I‘m brought back to a sense of peace, and I feel like I’m in the presence of God. I’ve moved away to live in other cities for my career, but always longed to be back, and when I came back to the shore, I knew I was home. One of my first and still current e-mail addresses is baydreamer because that’s what I did when I lived away. I dreamed of the Bay."
