Coffee for the Bay

Starbucks The Starbucks Foundation, whose mission is "to create opportunities for youth to learn, serve & grow their natural potential to reinvent the world," has made a generous $50,000 grant to support CBF's Student Leadership efforts, providing a huge funding boost for the program.

In addition, from now through June 3rd, bring your own travel mug when you buy a drink at Starbucks and they'll donate 10-cents to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Starbucks teams up with CBF

Starbucks Bring a Cup. Save the Bay.

CBF and Starbucks Coffee Company have joined forces to bring awareness to what people can do to protect the Chesapeake Bay, its rivers, and streams. All you have to do is come to one of the 400 Starbucks company-owned stores in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, or Washington, D.C. and buy your favorite drink. If you bring your own tumbler, Starbucks will fill up your cup AND donate 10 cents from the purchase price to CBF. The offer runs from April 3 to May 14, 2007.

If you don't have a tumbler, get a free one (while supplies last) from 6 to 9:30 a.m. April 3 outside select Washington, D.C.-area Metro stations, including Bethesda, Metro Center, and Farragut North.

Img_bannerlunch The Chesapeake Club's homeowner-oriented "Save The Crabs. Then Eat 'Em." ad campaign has got to be one of the most creative we've seen in a long time. An initiative of the Chesapeake Bay Program, these delectable radio, tv, print, and billboard ads are making their way to Hampton Roads and Richmond after a two-year run in Washington, D.C.

If you haven't seen them yet, or don't want to wait, check them out at http://www.chesapeakeclub.org/media.htm

Check out their list of crab-friendly lawn and landscaping services, too.

Working Food and Farmscapes

Hi Folks,

I sure hope we'll see you there. We need your support to bring all of these connections together!

Food For Life Balance Show
Working Food and Farmscapes

Foodies (or not) and friends will want to attend an Annapolis show
held midday Saturday, January 2007. The event links the connection of
food, cooking and the land in a beautiful presentation of photographs, music and cooking held at the Anne Arundal Medical Center/Wellness.

Food For Life Balance workshop serves as a template for giving this program nationally with key players involved. Rita Calvert is putting the final touches on the show/workshop to be given with the sponsorship of Whole Foods/Annapolis, Clagett Farm of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Wendy Child and the medical center.

Beautiful animated photos of the farm (mostly Clagett)and food (styled or simply growing naturally) enhance the 3 hour event which includes a luscious lunch, live cooking demo, Eat For the Seasons, "Kit in a Can" and background music from the local artist, Mark Schatz of Nickel Creek.
