Clagett Farm Meet 'n' Greet Saturday April 30th

Cow heads
You're invited to meet each other and your farmers, get a tour of the farm, and get all your questions answered at this casual, easy event two weeks from Saturday.

When:  Saturday April 30, 1-4pm
Where:     Clagett Farm, 11904 Old Marlboro Pike, Upper Marlboro MD 20772
Who:  All are welcome
Price:  Free!

1:00pm:  Choose a Hayride to the Cows and Chickens
OR Take an tour with our herbalist of the Medicinal Herb Bed and wild-growing edibles

2:00pm:  New CSA members gather at the Washing Station to learn about how to pick up your share, and when you're allowed to "Skip" and "Double".
Kids gather nearby for storytime with our local librarian.

2:30pm:  Second chance for a hayride to the cows and chickens.
OR Walk to some hard-to-find fields with Carrie to get the skinny on what we'll plant where, and have your gardening questions answered.

THROUGHOUT:

  • A modest amount of you-pick lettuce, spinach and kale for CSA members and April worksharers
  • Bees!  A beekeeper will give you close (but safe!) look at one of the farm's honeybee hives and explain how it works.
  • Pot your own blue potato.  They're easy to grow in a large container with full sun or a square foot patch of dirt.  And they're really fun to harvest.
  • Light refreshments:  We'll have a little popcorn and herbal tea, but no meal will be served, so be sure to eat lunch before you come.

Rain?
If it rains, we'll meet at the washing station to answer questions, visit the greenhouses, and take a hayride whenever it looks like it's drizzling or dry.  Bring a raincoat and rubber boots, if you have them.
