ANNOUNCEMENTS & REMINDERS

Two More Weeks After This Week! We've gotten a few questions about when this year's CSA season will end. The final Wednesday pick-up will be November 12 and the final Saturday pick-up will be November 15.

See the Stars at the Farm: CSA Member Rebecca will be bringing her telescope to the last two Wednesday pick-ups at the farm (November 5 and 12).  With the time change coming up, it will be dark early enough to observe objects before the share pickup is over.

Pizzas for sale at the Farm Pick-Up! More details to share on this, but Rob will be cooking pizzas for CSA members picking up at the farm on 11/5 and 11/8. Donations would be very much welcome. So look forward to that!

Have Some Extra Dishes Around Your House? We're still in need of dishes to be donated for the farm. If you have some, we'd love to have them. More details in this blog post

Garlic is for Sale!  If anyone wants even more garlic than waht's in the share, but if you know anybody who would like to buy garlic, we're offering it at at $5/pound at both the farm and Dupont pick-up.

THIS WEEK'S SHARE

1/2 pound total combination kale, beans, beets, carrots, arugula, lettuce, chile peppers, bok choy

3 pounds total combination sunchokes, peppers, eggplant, potatoes, garlic (loose cloves and bulbs)

TIP OF THE WEEK: FREEZING GREEN PEPPERS

We are harvesting all the peppers at the farm this week and next. For those of you who take green peppers, these can be frozen and used this winter. Simply halve the peppers and remove the seeds, then chop them to a size of your liking. They'll freeze well inside a releasable freezer bag, and you can bring off the amount you need for recipes.

TIP OF THE WEEK 2!: USING SUNCHOKES

Sunchokes are delicious. If you haven't used them before, we highly recommend you pick some up and try them. Here's a guide on how to use sunchokes and here's a simple recipe for Pan Roasted Sunchokes

 What's on U-Pick:

  • Cardoons. They're available now! Come and get them and experiment! One way to use them is to fry them. Here's a recipe for Golden Fried Cardoons
  • Chiles.
  • Kale.

  • Flowers

What You Can Expect in the Coming Weeks:

  • Sweet potatoes will be dug this week and then cured for another week. You'll probably see them in 2 weeks.
  • Greens
  • More sunchokes
