This Week's Share: Garlic, Apples, Radishes & More!

10.30

This week we have apples from Homestead Farms in Poolesville, Maryland. They are conventionally-grown Fujis. Thank you to the farmer, Ben Allnutt, and his crew! He gave us a great deal in exchange for some of our premium seed garlic.

This week's photo comes from F Delventhal.  Want to see your photos featured in this weekly email? Just snap a pic -- from the farm, from your CSA share itself, or even a recipe you make with your Clagett produce -- and either email it to us or post it to Instagram with the hashtag #ClagettFarm!

  • 2 heads of garlic
  • 3 apples
  • 1 lb. greens
  • 3 lbs. radishes
  • ¾ lb. peppers

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our pizza party! We had a blast, and the clay oven made exquisite pizzas, per usual.

The last CSA pick-ups are Wednesday 11/16 at the farm and Dupont, Thursday 11/17 in Annapolis, and Saturday 11/19 at the farm. You have 3 more weeks to pick up your shares (including this one). Please remember there’s a limit of 2 shares at a time.

Beginning Friday sunrise 11/22 and lasting through Thanksgiving, CSA members may glean whatever remains in the fields. We’ll post a list of what we have beforehand.

There might be a frost this weekend, so the u-pick list could change soon. If you want any last-minute basil, get it now!

ON U-PICK THIS WEEK:

  • anise hyssop
  • cutting celery
  • cilantro
  • Malabar "spinach"
  • lemongrass
  • hops
  • hibiscus
  • hot chile peppers
  • flowers
  • dill
  • basil (various varieties)
  • parsley
  • sorrel
  • sage
  • stevia
  • onion chives
  • thyme
  • garlic chives
  • mint
  • oregano

That's it for the week! Enjoy the share!
