This Week's Share: Garlic, Bok Choi, Turnips & More!
October 16, 2019
This week's photos come from our volunteer, Vince, and from your farmer, Carrie Vaughn. Want to see your photos featured in this weekly email? Just snap a pic -- from the farm, from your CSA share itself, or even a recipe you make with your Clagett produce -- and either email it to us or post it to Instagram with the hashtag #ClagettFarm!
We’re almost at an inch in the rain gauge, and it’s still coming down. Thrilling!
- 2 heads garlic
- 1/2 lb bok choi + rutabaga greens (they are delicious--treat them like collards)
- 1/2 lb tat soi + arugula (tat soi is like spinach)
- 2 lbs turnips + radishes
- 3/4 lb tomatoes + baby sweet potatoes
- 1/2 lb sweet peppers
- A little fresh ginger
- Unlimited hot chile peppers
ON U-PICK THIS WEEK:
- anise hyssop
- cutting celery
- cilantro
- Malabar "spinach"
- lemongrass
- hops
- hibiscus
- hot chile peppers
- flowers
- dill
- basil (various varieties)
- parsley
- sorrel
- sage
- stevia
- onion chives
- thyme
- garlic chives
- mint
- oregano
We still have a lot of sun gold cherry tomatoes available in the field for upick. We can’t pick them for you because half of them split immediately. But they are still delicious!
This week (and for several weeks to come) we have big “watermelon” radishes, which are bright pink on the inside and white and green on the outside. They look like turnips at first glance, but don’t be fooled. They are a little sweeter than your average radish but still a little spicy. Great raw or roasted.

Don't forget we're having a party just for you on Saturday, October 26th. We'll be cranking out pizzas, circulating the hay wagon, and we'll stream a little music on the speakers. There's no charge, but we welcome any contribution of additional food (particularly for the dairy-free and gluten-free among us), drinks or other merriment for a nice farm friend get-together. Bring any friends and family you'd like.
That's it for the week! Enjoy the share!
