  • 1/2 lb loose garlic cloves
  • 1 basket baby sweet potatoes
  • choose: 1 apple or 2 persimmons
  • choose: 1/4 lb salad greens or 3/4 lb bok choi
  • unlimited green peppers, hot chile peppers and turnips
 
This is our last week of CSA shares!  It was mighty cold this morning, and some of the greens and roots we hoped to give you hadn't thawed by press time.  The good news is that there should be some additional greens and turnips for gleaning next week. 
 
Thank you to Dave Vernon and Jennifer Amerkhail who gave us these incredibly sweet persimmons from the trees in their yards!  Please only eat the persimmons once they are completely ripe.  Ripe persimmons are dark orange and feel like a water balloon.  If you eat them under-ripe, they will taste chalky and unpleasant. 
 
Coming events:
Friday 11/22 through Thanksgiving: CSA members may glean whatever you like from the remaining plants in the fields.  Expect this to take some time--the things that were easy to pick have mostly been picked already.  The options should include collards, rutabaga greens (the roots won't form in time), tat soi, arugula, Tokyo bekana, turnips and spicy mix.  We'll put a complete list along with a map on the dry erase board in the washing station.
 
Next week we'll send you a member survey.  Please fill it out!  We use your feedback to shape the seeds we buy and the changes we make for next year. 
 
We'll be selling Christmas trees and wreaths in December!
On the farm:  Satudays and Sundays, 12/7, 12/8, 12/14, 12/15, 12/21, 12/22, 12:00pm-4:00pm (trees & wreaths, no orders necessary)
Dupont Circle neighborhood:  12/11 5:00pm-6:30pm (pre-ordered trees & wreaths only)
Annapolis: 12/13 9:30-10:00am, 12:00-1:00pm, 4:00-5:00pm (pre-ordered wreaths only)
Bethesda Farmers Market (7600 Arlington Rd): Sundays 12/8 and 12/15, 9:00am-1:30pm (wreaths only, no orders necessary)

We'll be selling CSA shares for our 2020 season soon!  We're working on a re-vamp of our registration page to resolve some of the issues we had this year.  Expect an email from us in about a month.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our pizza party! We had a blast, and the clay oven made exquisite pizzas, per usual.

The last CSA pick-ups are next week(!): Wednesday 11/16 at the farm and Dupont, Thursday 11/17 in Annapolis, and Saturday 11/19 at the farm. You have 2 more weeks to pick up your shares (including this one). Please remember there’s a limit of 2 shares at a time.

Beginning Friday sunrise 11/22 and lasting through Thanksgiving, CSA members may glean whatever remains in the fields. We’ll post a list beforehand of what is available.
